The New Victoria’s Secret Spring Lotions…Fun or Boring?

Calling all fans of Victoria’s Secret beauty and body product lines. The brand recently introduced two new limited edition products for spring: the Perfect Body Luminous Lotion, and the VS Fantasies Perfect Body Luminous Lotion. Let’s take a look at what these have to offer.

The Perfect Body Luminous Lotion, which is $25 for 8.4 ounces and available at VS stores and online, comes in five of the company’s most popular scents — Victoria’s Secret Bombshell, Dream Angels Heavenly, Victoria’s Secret Angel, Very Sexy and Incredible by Victoria’s Secret.

The VS team says the lotion is designed to be complexion-perfecting, so it utilizes optical diffusers to blur any imperfections, and create and illuminate flawless-looking skin. Meanwhile, the aloe and vitamin E in the formula take skin from dry and flaky to soft and silky. But we all know what really sells VS lotions — the fragrances, which are always flirty, feminine and come in more varieties than a person can keep track of.

The VS Fantasies Perfect Body Luminous Lotion, which is $12 for 5.4 ounces, promises all the same benefits: skin-enhancing brighteners, a healthy-looking and flawless glow, nourishment in the form of aloe and vitamin E, “touchable” skin and, of course, the following super sexy scents: Love Spell, Pure Seduction, Amber Romance, Secret Charm, Sheer Love and Secret Craving.

So what’s different between the two? As far as I can tell, not much. Just the ounces, the price and the fragrances available for each. In fact, it doesn’t seem like these two lotions are much different from their predecessors, either.

While I’m sure loyal VS devotees will snap these up, I personally see the same generic lotions the brand has been pumping out for years. Why does it seem like every season I get a press release showcasing the same lotion in different packaging? I think the brains behind VS’ body and beauty products are capable of doing a whole lot more, and I’d love to see it.

So come on, how about a lotion with a little more oomph, Victoria? Here’s to hoping you have something more exciting planned for summer!
