At The Makeup Show LA, I came across a brand I’d never tried before – Gorgeous Cosmetics, from Australia. They’ve just come to the United States, having opened up their US headquarters in Los Angeles, and I am really excited. So far, all the people I’ve talked to from Gorgeous Cosmetics have been very pleasant and helpful, and I even had a chance to chat with their founder, David McConnell – award winning makeup artist and hair dresser. I have to say that all three of us – Anisha, Stela, and I were all pretty impressed with their line. I ended up purchasing two Shimmer Dusts from Gorgeous Cosmetics – one of them, Ms. Vegas, is basically one of my new favorites.
A few days after the show, someone from Gorgeous Cosmetics reached out to me with some more information about the brand, and graciously sent me a few more of their products to try out. Tonight, I’ll be reviewing just a few of them along with the Ms. Vegas Shimmer Dust I purchased.
Gorgeous Cosmetics Shimmer Dust: Ms. Vegas
I ended up using this shimmery loose pigment quite a bit during my stay in California. Ms. Vegas is sort of a gunmetal and gold duochrome that creates this amazing smokey wash of color. In fact, it’s perfect for a smokey eye. I have been using this in the crease of my eyelid, with my sp”ice”y Blingtone all over my lid, and it turned out to be a great pairing. Below, I swatched this twice – once by itself (on the left) and once on top of my Gorgeous Cosmetics iPrime Eyeshadow Base, which was given to me to review (right).
I honestly like it better without the iPrime Eyeshadow Base, but only because I like how the color mixes with my natural skin-tone and really brings out the gold flecks. On top of the creamy white base, it makes the gunmetal color stronger, which isn’t the most flattering for me, but could look great on someone with a different complexion.

Luxurious loose powder pigment dusts lightly over eyes, face and body. Highly pigmented and silky soft, simply alter your application technique to create a gorgeous sheen, an intense color effect or anything in between.
Gorgeous Cosmetics Colour Pro Eyeshadow: Apricot
When I was asked if I’d like to receive any other products from the Gorgeous Cosmetics, I chose their Colour Pro Eyeshadow in Apricot because it looked like a very pretty dusky rose color from what I could see on their website. But when I received it, it turned out to be a much lighter pinky-peach frost. The color is still very pretty, but definitely not what I was expecting. Without flash it looks like a very light peach, and with flash it looks more pink. It’s surprisingly pigmented and comes on silky-smooth. While I was a little disappointed that the color wasn’t what I had in mind, it does makes a great highlighting eyeshadow. I plan on purchasing their eyeshadow in a few other shades, because the quality is definitely worth the money.
I swatched this eyeshadow without the iPrime Eyeshadow Base (left) and with it (right). There’s quite a difference. With my skin tone, the color has more of a peachy undertone – I guess it’s the pink from the eyeshadow mixing with the yellow undertone of my skin. On top of the iPrime, it looks more like its true frosty pink color.
Gorgeous Cosmetics Colour Pro Eyeshadow can be bought at Nordstrom.com for $25 along with their other shades. I really like how Leprechaun looks and I’m thinking about buying it to add to my collection of Emerald shadows for 2013.

Rich, silky shadows, enriched with intense color pigment last for hours without creasing. A superfine milling process ensures easy and even blending and perfect results. The soft, velvety mattes are infused with vitamin E and frosted shades are powdery soft and blend like liquid silk.
Gorgeous Cosmetics iPrime Eyeshadow Base
I have mixed feelings about the iPrime Eyeshadow Base – I think it works great but it’s not the easiest to work with; especially for those of us with medium to dark complexions. If you have a fair complexion, this might be great for you. It’s an extremely thick cream – in fact, you should only use a verryyyy thin layer of it. It’s very easy to pick up too much of this product, and then you’ll have to blend it out quite a bit. But, once you get used to working with it, it’s a great priming base because your eyeshadow will look a lot closer to the color it was truly meant to be. You can see the difference throughout this whole post.
Gorgeous Cosmetics iPrime Eyeshadow Base is available at Nordstrom.com for $35.
