2 Drugstore Makeup Alternatives from L’Oreal Your Wallet Will Thank You For

These affordable drugstore makeup products from L’Oreal will replace some of your favorite high-end obsessions.

In the past, I was totally guilty of being a makeup brand snob. I rarely ever shopped for makeup at the drugstore, instead sticking to the makeup counters at department stores and, of course, Sephora. Starting my own business has really made me a lot more conscious of my spending habits. While business has generally been good, it is somewhat unpredictable from month to month, so I have to conserve my funds if I want to survive. Not surprisingly, I have found some great drugstore alternatives for some of my favorite high-end makeup products – I can even say I prefer some of my more affordable products over their pricey counterparts.

L’Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner vs Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is among my favorite products of all time. This bestselling and award-winning formula has been talked, blogged, and vlogged about for years as one of best eyeliners. But at $27 a pop, and considering I am SO bad at keeping the lid closed that I generally have to replace my dried out pot every couple months, it gets to be a little expensive. So when I put L’Oreal’s Infallible Lacquer Liner to the bikram yoga test, I was so excited that I instagramed it. Imagine being in a heated room at 105 degrees with 40% humidity for an hour and half – you’d think my eyeliner would be running down my face by the end of class, right? Wrong. This baby stayed put, and it was easy to apply to boot.

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow vs Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadow

I fell in love with Buxom’s Stay-There Eyeshadow, and must admit I have quite a few of their shades. But when I swatched L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow at my local Walgreens, I was amazed at how similar the two products were in quality! I will say that Buxom offers some more unique colors, but L’Oreal has more colors to choose from overall. Another high-end eyeshadow I would compare L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow to is Lancome’s Color Design Infinité, which I reviewed earlier this week. I wore these shadows for over 8 hours without any creasing, smudging, or fading.

I'm a total snob for high end, but now that we're expecting our second child, and especially since I'm staying at home right now, I've got to rein it in. I just bought a Bobbi Brown gel liner a few months ago so good to know they dry out fast. I'll have to use it faster! When I replace it I know what I will replace it with now! I wish they had a good purple in the gel liner but I didn't see one. Read Less
