Tonight, Stela and I made a trip to Fashion Island, in Newport Beach to check out MAC’s new Colour Craft Collection. After a cursory glance of the new Colour Craft Mineralize Eyeshadow Quads, I immediately knew which ones I was going to take home with me: Eccentricity and Natural Flare. In the next week or so, after I buy a new SD card for my camera (or find my old one), I will be posting tutorials on some every-day looks using each of these quads, but for now here is my review:
Eccentricity is a combination of Rich Gold, Light Violet, Rich Bronze and Deep Plum that is very wearable, very flattering, and just plain pretty. Like the other Mineralize Eyeshadow Quads in MAC’s Colour Craft collection, each shade of Eccentricity is very shimmery and can be worn on any skin tone, especially with the right primer. One of the best things about these eyeshadow quads, is that you can easily blend two or three colors from one quad together to create new shades that are just as wearable and pretty as each individual shade… so really, you get more than 6 possible shades. Each color compliments the other perfectly. What’s really great is that while each color is obviously very pretty, they’re not at all too pastel; So if you want to look girly without being over the top, this is the perfect choice for you.
Natural Flare is an eyeshadow quad that consists of warm tones (Copper, Yellow Orange, Rich Gold, and Dirty Brown) that you can blend together and wear on any occasion. This is a great solution for every-day work wear, especially if you spend a lot of time in the morning mulling over your makeup selection for that day. Golds and bronzes compliment virtually every skin tone, and makes the wearer look like they care about how they look while not having to waste too much time in the morning getting everything perfect. This is the perfect eyeshadow quad to keep in your purse if you travel a lot, because you can easily take your look from day to night without doing much of anything, and you can wear these colors with any outfit. Look professional by day and sexy by night by applying a little more eyeliner before a night of clubbing. These shades each have just enough shimmer and will definitely look great on people with warmer skin tones (like me!). I find with my warm skintone, I can afford to be a little careless while applying gold/bronze shadows because it just blends into my skin and you can’t really notice any minor flaws. You can use all four shades together for a super sculpted eye or minimize your look by just using one shade and a little liner and mascara. This is definitely going in my purse for emergencies and overnighters (which I frequently have both of).
Other products that Stela and I looked at from the Colour Craft collection were the lip glasses, blushes, and lipsticks. I haven’t got the biggest lipstick collection, and I don’t really plan on starting one. I have two lipsticks that I keep with me on the rare occasion that I’d like a little color on my lips. When I want to experiment with different colors, I usually just get a lip brush and dip my lip conditioner in some eyeshadow, and that works fine for me. But I did LOVE the Colour Craft lipstick in “Colour Crafted,” which is a frosty and milky pink shade. I actually thought it looked great on my lips, but it wasn’t enough to make me buy it because I didn’t want to spend more than $100 tonight and I’d already chosen to buy the two eyeshadow quads and some foundation and powder. I also loved most of the new blushes – they were all very pretty and shimmery and could also double as eyeshadows and I may be back later this month to purchase one or two of these.
Also, I’ve got to make a shout out to the awesome sales associate that helped us at the MAC counter at Macy’s, Kim. She was very helpful and very friendly, and let us hang around and try everything with her brushes. She made some really great suggestions while giving us space to play around… I hate it when they get clingy!
