Finding My Face Powder

Over the years I have tried a lot of face powders; mainly Shiseido, Lancome, and La Prairie.  I was first introducted to Shiseido because I was already using some of their products.  I figured it would be good to use because it was made in Japan… all those Japanese girls have beautiful skin!  I thought I could use their products and maybe my skin would be like theirs.  Anyways the powder, which cost $29.50, was great but I wasn’t awed.  Then I discovered Lancome with my friend while we were getting a makeover at the Macy’s counter.  I decide to switch to Lancome because the color of the powder seemed to suit me more, though it was more expensive ($35.50 ).  My skin looked good and  I was tired of the Shiseido Powder anyways so I wanted something new; Something I’ve never heard of or tried before.

One night we were at the mall looking at makeup and I was having this conversation with my friend Dyane and she told me about the La Prairie Powder.  She said one of her Korean friends used it and it made her skin look wonders.  So we went to the La Prairie Counter at Nordstrom and the lady at the counter helped me pick out my color.  After she put on the powder, I saw myself in the mirror and I was convinced that I found my true powder.  It’s pricey at $75.00, but worth it.  It acts as powder foundation and you can wear it with or without liquid or cream foundation.  I use it to this day and will not use another powder unless I’m out of money then I will have to go back to Lancome.  It’s true that you pay for what you get.  If anyone know’ a better face powder out that can do wonders for a cheaper price, let me know.  Till then it’s gonna be La Prairie and nothing else.  One compact lasts me up to five or six months.

I find that most brands carry my color, it just depends on the person that is color-matching me. I've had a lot of trial and error with MAC's powder and foundation, because the person that was matching the color to my skin tone didn't do that great of a job. These days I keep multiple shades of powder and foundation at home so that i can kind of blend my own color. I tan and get pale depending on the season, and I do it rather quickly so I really need to stay prepared for anything my skin might throw at me, haha. Read Less

Not sure why I stopped but now I've been using MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural Powder which seems to work great to give me a finished flawless look on top of my bb cream, but doesn't have great oil control. $75 is quite pricey for me but I might have to give it a try one day! How would you say the oil control is? Read Less
