I have to admit, while perusing the shelves at my local Planet Beauty I was a bit skeptical when I came across a product called Shampowder by Buttercream Cosmetics. Getting a tad irritated at the lack of a product description on the packaging (aside from the cursive type on one side that read “When there’s no time to spare to wash your hair…”), I decided to ask the young lady behind the counter. She explained to me that it was a dry powder shampoo that is colored and scented and comes in a handy brush tip applicator. I immediately recognized this product as a modern spin on the old tradition of placing baby powder on your roots when you haven’t washed your hair. What the powder does is absorbs the excess oil from your roots so you don’t look so mangey.
I’d never tried the baby-powder trick myself because I always found the idea to be so messy, and I wondered if my hair would look grey under certain lights. But since I’ve been between my boyfriend’s and my parents’ house for the past couple of months, I thought this might be a good idea. This could be a great solution for when I can’t wash my hair because I left the flat iron at the other place and wouldn’t be able to style my hair the next morning because the frizz and damage from having bought the damn flat iron in the first place is so extreme that I look like a dandellion when my hair dries. So I purchased Shampowder For Dark Hair and went home.
Shampowder comes in three different colors for light hair, dark or red hair, and black hair and the brush-tip applicator makes it easy to use; and best of all, it doesn’t leave a mess! It took me two minutes to apply the product to my scalp and hairline and I was surprised when it did as advertised. My hair looked isntantly cleaner, and the best surprise was the lovely scent the powder carried… sort of vanilla. Since it’s so small, I can keep it in my purse and have it with me anywhere I go in case of an emergency!
Shampowder can be purchased on Buttercream Cosmetic’s official website for an affordable $15.99.
