Plaid is Rad

As Fall approaches, we start to get in that holiday mood. One of the timeless patterns for the holidays have always been plaid. With this strong pattern, sometimes I find it hard to style. And so I dive into research (a.k.a online shopping) to see what I could find to help those plaid handicapped.

1. The Dress

GQ Men Of The Year Awards

Going to family dinner for Thanksgiving or just hanging out with girlfriends, an all over plaid dress is the easiest and chicest option to throw on. What’s even better about a plaid dress is the layering options you are given. To dress it up for the night opt for a sleek leather jacket. It will definitely give your whole look an edge and you will look just like Emma Watson on the red carpet. If edgy isn’t your scene, try layering a chunky knit over the dress to give it a more casual look.

2. Bottoms

Going for plaid bottoms is a daring move, but paired with the right top and accessories will make you look like a plaid pro. If you’re feeling fancy, try the whole matching top and bottom look like Ashley Madekwe. Add a sexy stiletto to complete this sophisticated ensemble. For those brisk Fall days, a neutral color sweater with chunky boots, also does the trick. To avoid looking like a school girl with a plaid skirt, opt for a midi skirt paired with black for a mature, modern look.

3. Flannel

This may be the biggest trend for fall and the easiest thing to layer under coats. You can’t go wrong with flannels and denim! Remix your flannels by knotting it around your waist to give your outfit a little plaid flare.

4. Accessories

If you’re not ready to full commit to plaid, I suggest adding it in little by little with the accessories! Easiest way is in your scarf! Plaid scarves also make for festive gifts during the holiday season.
