Everyday Makeup Look

My everyday makeup look tends to change every couple months, so I thought I would share what I currently have going on right now. I have to say, I have been using less and less makeup as I get older, unless it’s a special occasion. I used to do the whole primer, concealer, foundation, powder, brown smokey eye, eyeliner, three coats of mascara, lipstick, and gloss routine. Now, I keep things much simpler, which I’m sure my friends and family appreciate because it only takes me about 15-20 minutes to get ready to leave, as opposed to the full hour it used to take. Gone are the days when I had to lie and tell my friends over the phone that “I’m almost there!” from my bathroom.

This simplified look makes me look a lot more youthful, I think… and it’s a lot easier on my skin, which has always been acne-prone. I conceal any blemishes or problem areas with my Ellis Faas Concealer in S204 – The built-in brush applicator makes it super easy to use. I then apply a layer of Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation in S104 most days for a nice dewy finish, but sometimes I switch it up and use Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Airbrush Powder Foundation if I want a more matte finish – these days I only apply my foundation to problem areas, rather than a whole layer all over my face. With the humidity down here in Houston, I need to keep it light!

Filling in my eyebrows is basically the most important part of my daily makeup routine – if I don’t have time for anything else, making sure my eyebrows are perfectly shaped is the least I’ll do before I walk out of the house. I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo along with their dual sided Brush #12.

Contouring my face is another extremely important step for me because I have such a moon face – flat and round! Tarte’s Matte Waterproof Bronzer is a good one for this.

An important part of my “signature” look (as some of my friends have called it) is my eyeliner. You will always see me with a perfectly winged top eye line. I use gel liner because it’s the easiest to work with and actually stays put even through a one and a half hour bikram yoga class. L’Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner in Blackest Black is my weapon of choice.

When I want to amp it up, I wear a strong lippie, like OCC’s Lip Tar in Strumpet (shown above). When I want a more casual look, I usually use my trusty Limited Edition Tinted Lip Conditioner from MAC in Close for Comfort, but their Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm in Pure and Tender is a nice alternative.
