Q&A with The Makeup Show LA Attendees

A few days ago, we posted a recap and some photos from The Make Up Show LA 2012 and what we experienced while we were there.. As Jenn and I were venturing around the exhibit, we had the chance to interview some of the attendees.

Our first interviewee was Gianni Charvari, a student at Santa Monica College’s Cosmotology School (pictured on the left). It was Gianni’s first time at the Make Up Show, having heard about it from the Ice International Expo. We encountered her while she was waiting in line outside of the Make Up For Ever booth. She had told us that she was looking to get MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Invisible Cover Foundation, which had so many people ranting and raving about when we were at the show. Charvari also claimed she was a fan of Make Up For Ever’s lipstick as well because “it lasts all day and doesn’t dry out [her] lips.”

After interviewing Charvari, we had the pleasure of running into two make-up artists right alongside the Inglot booth, Charity Daw and Melissa Banes. Both work for MAC Cosmetics, with Daw as a freelance make-up artist for the company and Banes as a MAC Cosmetics make-up artist. Daw and Banes arrived at the show feeling excited to see new companies and new things they didn’t know existed. As “MAC girls” as they like to call themselves, they stated that, “When you work for a line, you kind of get tunnel vision, so it’s good to see what’s out there and what people are doing.”

Jessica De Ortiz and Lily Gonzalez

Nearing the end of the show, we ran into two more attendees who were excited to be at the show as well. Jessica de Ortiz and Lily Gonzales are both students at a beauty school in Alhambra. It was their first time at the Make Up Show, so they were feeling both overwhelmed and excited at what it had to offer. Of the things things they were both excited for, they were looking forward to the Coastal Scents brushes.

We also asked our interviewees if they noticed any trends while walking around at The Make Up Show, and they all referred to the bright, bold lips (shimmer and matte) that many attendees were sporting. We definitely agree! There were all different shades of pink and red, even some outrageous colors as well.

Our next stop will be IMATS NY on April 14, which Chrissy will be attending. She’ll also be attending The Makeup Show LA in May, and in June, Anisha and Jenn will be covering IMATS LA together! We’re super excited to give you some great coverage of hot, up and coming products from the biggest makeup brands, as well as anything else we learn on the scene. If you’ll be at any of these momentous events, comment below and maybe we’ll see you there!
