The Makeup Show NYC 2014 – Part 1

Listening to the always wonderful @jvincentmakeup at @themakeupshow #blogger preview…
But first, let me take a #selfie.

The Makeup Show NYC is, hands-down, my favorite makeup event of the year, and I am so glad I made it up to New York this year to attend. Not only did I get to meet some beauty bloggers and makeup artists that I really respect, like BeautyJudy,  BeautyWithATwist,  NorahLovesMakeup,  MaryamMaquillage, and a few others, but I also saw a lot of amazing makeup and learned a lot too!

This show is definitely too big to cover in one post, so here goes Part 1!

FACE atelier & Ellis Faas

FACE atelier had some great face products on display but unfortunately it was a bit too crowded at the booth so I didn’t get a chance to sample any products.

I always love going to the Ellis Faas booth to swatch their lip products, and I’m a huge fan of their new Hot Lips line, which I’m still waiting to be available at Sephora. I also really like their Milky Lips line.

The light texture of this highly pigmented, covering lipstick gives great definition to your lips, both as a fully covering shade, but also as a mere stain. Especially loved by women who do not like the feel of lipstick on their lips, all shades are “human colors,” meaning that they’re inspired by the colors that by nature already exist in the human body and are therefore suitable for all skintones.

Youngblood Cosmetics & Serenity+Scott Beauty

Youngblood was another booth that was a bit overcrowded when I got there, so I snapped some pics and moved on – I’ve seen this brand plenty of times and have a boat load of their products, so I wanted to focus my limited time on brands I hadn’t seen before.

Serenity+Scott was one of those brands, and I was happy to purchase one of their Bridal palettes for $48 (normally sold for $80). It has a beautiful mix of natural shades, perfect for the blushing bride, but also great for day-to-day use. Stay tuned for a lengthy review!

Ardency Inn & Black Up Cosmetics

I was excited to see Ardency Inn showing at The Makeup Show for the first time, and I was able to finally buy a new Americana Natural Nude Lip Pencil in a new shade after buying one that was too pale a while ago. I also received an eyeliner from their Punker Collection at the TMS Blogger Preview event. My friend bought a couple of their colored eyeliners, and is going to let me know how she likes them before I go off to purchase them myself. I loved how the blue liner looked on one of the brand reps though.

The creamy formula of Americana Lip Pencil glides on silky smooth for sexy, soft lips. Shea, cocoa, and shorea butters moisturize, nourish, and soothe lips while antioxidants provide protection against the sun’s harmful rays. This pencil is available in five natural lip color shades: Delancey, Bowery, Houston, Essex, and Kenmare. The convenient propel/repel delivery system is great for touch-ups on the go.

Black Up Cosmetics was another newcomer to the show, a european brand that was showcasing their new lip line that won’t be available until next week. Sadly, they weren’t actually making any sales at the show – you could only buy their products from their website, and they had laptops and ipads there for you to make purchases. I really wanted a couple shades from their new lip line, so I decided to hold off and purchase everything I wanted next week so that I wouldn’t have to pay shipping twice.
