When the OPI Shatter first came out I became obsessed with it and began using it every week or whenever I would chip my nail polish. I also am a picker and often pick my nail polish off so I would literally be doing my nails every week. After a few weeks of doing this I noticed that my nails began to yellow. I had never had this happen before, and I’m not entirely sure it was because of the Shatter, but I have worn OPI nail polish along with many other brands before and had never experienced yellowing of the nails. As you can imagine it looked pretty gross and it was a little embarrassing.
My first course of action was purchasing Seche Bright, which is supposed to make your nails white and shiny. It kind of worked, like if I had regular nails the Seche Bright would just make them look really clean and healthy but with yellow nails it really didn’t do much. So, I knew I just had to wait for the yellow nails to grow out but I didn’t want people looking at my icky yellow nails so I had to figure something out. My next course of action was trying Zoya, a nail polish that is both toluene and formaldehyde free, which I used once a week. I also used Nailtiques Formula 1 every time I redid my nails and, what do you know… it worked! It didn’t take the yellow away, but it didn’t add any more yellow to my nails, and I was able to grow them out.
Ever since that experience I have been wary of using the Shatter nail polish and am somewhat turned off of OPI because of it. Although, OPI usually does have the best colors and they come out with amazing collections each season which makes it hard to resist.

Bummer. I've never tried Opi shatter but I was happy with China Glaze.
