NOTD: Pretty in Pink

Slowly but surely, I’m getting better with doing my own nails, and you all get to see my progress over the next few months. My problem with ombres is that I hate using a sponge because I feel like the polish barely transfers from the sponge to my nail, and it just takes forever. I have absolutely no patience for that. If I’m doing something wrong, please feel free to tell me. This time I used a fan brush to create this ombre look, and I really like how simple and fast it was.

Nicole by OPI Carrie Underwood Collection: Southern Charm

When I saw these swatches on various other blogs, I fell in love with Southern Charm from the Carrie Underwood collection. Sadly – and maybe it was just my bottle – I had some trouble with this polish, as it was too thick and goopy and bubbled and streaked quite a bit when trying to apply it. I’m going to see if adding some thinner will make it better.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish: Vacation Time Affiliate

This nail polish coupled beautifully with Southern Charm, and is a lovely dusty rose color (definitely more pink than what’s pictured on the right). Very pigmented and easy to apply – it only took two thin coats when I wore this polish by itself.

Hrm. Yep, that NOPI looks kinda thick. Bummer! The gradient looks good, though!

I like how subtle the ombre is! I don't have the patience to do anything but plain polish.

That is a perfect natural looking gradient. I am so jealous. I suck at gradient manis.

Nail art is so dang hard! You did a good job creating the look though and your nails are beautiful!
