My Daily Essentials for Life On The Go

Since starting my life over again in Houston, I have been quite the busy bee. I never know what each new day will bring. Starting a new business basically means that I need to be ready for anything – like an impromptu meeting at a client’s office, then having to come back to my office for another meeting or two, dealing with emergencies, running to the bank, then back to the office to get some training time in with my interns… not to mention trying to fit in a bikram yoga class at least five times a week. This post serves a dual purpose because I wanted to share what a typical day in my life is like while still talking about what products I like to keep with me while I’m on the go.

Lately, I haven’t really been wearing as much makeup as I used to wear – mainly because of yoga. It’s amazing how much yoga has changed my life in the few short weeks I’ve been doing it. You can’t look any more ridiculous than having a full face of makeup melting off of you while working out in a 105 degree room. Now I carry most of my essentials in my tote bag, so that I can get ready for work after class.

From Yoga to The Office

After my hour and a half bikram yoga class, I take a quick 3 minute shower to wash the sweat off. In my tote bag, I carry my Summer’s Eve Cleansing Wash in Island Splash which you can use for your skin as well as in sensitive areas. This cuts my shower time in half, and I really enjoy the scent. What’s also great about Summer’s Eve is that it is pH-balanced and it won’t dry sensitive skin or sensitive areas like regular soap will, so you can use it every day. After my shower, I put on a little makeup for work. I start by brushing and defining my eyebrows with my Anastasia Brow Powder Duo, and spot treat my skin to even out my complexion in places that need a little extra attention. I love my Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation Pen, because it’s easy to just keep in your purse and it’s perfect for spot correcting. To give myself a little color, I slap on my favorite lip color at the time. Right now, it’s Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in Fiesta.

This Meeting and That Meeting

If I’ve got a meeting or two planned that day, I’ll put on a little extra makeup in the morning, and I’ll probably wait for the evening yoga class instead of going before work. I like to look my best for clients, so I put on some eyeshadow, blush, and bronzer to contour.  Lately, I’ve actually been using my NARS Madly Blush for both eyeshadow and blush, to cut down on time, and it really makes my look more cohesive. And in this Houston humidity, sometimes I need to do a once over with my NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder to give myself that matte finish again during the afternoon. To keep myself feeling fresh, I also keep one or two of Summer’s Eve’s Cleansing Cloths in my purse to use between meetings. Home Sweet Home

After a 10-hour workday, I get home around 9pm and take off my makeup with my Boots No.7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes, and then wash my face. For the rest of the night, I work on coding and designing websites while I watch something on Netflix. Right now, that’s Xena: Warrior Princess.
