Celebrity Spotlight: Krysten Ritter

Since I started my new web design business, I have been trying to conserve my funds by buying less makeup. Because of that, I have been thinking about new things I can write about, outside of product reviews. Cue the Celebrity Spotlight! Twice a month, or possibly more often, I’ll be featuring a celebrity and helping you recreate their look with product suggestions and beauty tips. First up is someone I have always had a bit of a girl-crush on: Krysten Ritter.

Known for her perfectly blunt bangs and alabaster skin, Krysten Ritter’s coquettish vampy glam look is very distinct, and rarely have we ever seen her stray from it. Her makeup consists of three features: black liner and mascara, minimal eyeshadow, and a strong lip. Her eyebrows are kept very natural looking, and that seems to really work for her less-is-more style. Krysten Ritter basically rocks the red carpet using the same amount of makeup that a normal chick would wear to go grocery shopping. Jealous!

Beauty in The Breakdown

Here are some tips to recreate the looks shown above.

With Krysten, the focus is usually on the lips. At the 19th Annual Elle Women in Hollywood Celebration, she wore a great pink, slightly fuchsia lipstick which went great with her pale skin. You can try Bite Beauty’s Luminous Creme Lipstick in Fuchsia Berry. Apply a tiny bit to your cheeks for a subtle blush.

Krysten has lovely long lashes, which she emphasizes with black mascara, paying special attention to her lower lashes.  Try Urban Decay’s SuperCurl Curling Mascara which has an arched wand so you can get to those lower lashes easily.

Krysten is slightly more done-up here while still looking effortless. She’s wearing a subtle champagne eyeshadow with slight contouring. I recommend Stila’s Eyeshadows in Kitten and Puppy.

To further duplicate Krysten’s look at the Premiere of “L!fe Happens,” apply eyeliner all around your eye before applying Mascara. For eyeliner, I recommend Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner for that ultra-black line.

Her lips are a classic deep red, and right now I’m loving one of Anisha’s favorites that she recently reviewed: NARS Red Lizard.

Krysten’s cheeks have a subtle wash of color here, so I’d try a tint or creme blush. Gigi reviewed Hourglass’ Aura Sheer Cheek Stain last week and Berry Pink looks like a perfect match.

This is a lot more natural look that the previous two, but Krysten manages to look just as glamorous.

Line only the top lid with a kohl eyeliner, like Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. Apply mascara two both your upper and lower lashes.

For her lips, still the most important part of her look – she uses a mauve lipstick. Smashbox’s Be Legendary Lipstick in Primrose is a dead ringer, and one of my personal favorites.
