Chrissy’s June Makeup Haul and Swatches

So, I spent about $200 at Sephora this weekend  (mostly for me, but I did purchase a couple gifts), and thought I would put together a quick teaser haul, and then review the products throughout the week. I am really excited about my purchases, and can’t wait to share my thoughts on them when I’ve had enough time to use each product.

I seem to be gravitating towards NARS lately, since I purchased four products from them. I’ve been trying to find the right blush and lippie to get ready for this summer. One product that was most excited about was NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Hyde Park. I swatched the tester in the store and fell in love, but when I got home I realized the box I selected was totally empty! My heart is crushed. I’m going to go back and have it exchanged. Has anyone else had this happen to them too?

Tarte Glamazon™ Pure Performance 12-Hour Lipstick

I am loving orangey reds this season, and this lipstick called to me from across the store. I don’t have very many products from Tarte, and I have been really curious about the brand lately so you can expect more Tarte reviews in the near future.

NARS Blush – Madly

This soft and warm peach blush is so pretty and it has a lovely subtle gold shimmer. I am really looking forward to trying Madly out this week so that I can review it this weekend.

NARS Blush – Seduction

This NARS blush in Seduction is very different any blushes I own, and certainly a polar opposite of Madly (shown above). Since it’s a very very deep wine color and super pigmented, I would have to buff this out quite a bit to wear it. I’ll probably get to a full review early next week.

NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder

I was extremely intrigued by this product while perusing the NARS aisle at Sephora. I’m wondering if it can compare to the Diamond Perfect Finish Setting Powder I purchased from Purely Cosmetics at The Makeup Show LA a few months ago. One thing I hate about setting/finishing powders is that they tend to come in loose powder form, which always creates a huge mess for me. I was applying my Diamond Powder in my car and, a few minutes afterwards, I got pulled over for speeding… There was white powder all over my lap and I’m pretty sure the police officer thought I had a major cocaine addiction.

(**myCosmeticbag does NOT recommend applying makeup while operating a motor vehicle or any other heavy machinery, even though Chrissy does it every day**)

Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel – Caramel

My brows can appear a bit too dark and cool for my liking, so I chose Anastasia’s Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel, which is a golden light brown with subtle gold shimmer, to hopefully warm them up a bit.

So like I said, I’m going to try and review these products over the next couple weeks – trying to restore mcb to its former glory, as we’ve all been extremely preoccupied lately. We have a new intern, Christine Lee, who’s going to be posting fairly frequently, so I hope you guys give her a warm welcome!
