The shape of your face plays a major factor in how you wear your hair. Depending on how you part it, you can play up the best features of your face, or tone down things that you don’t want to draw attention to. Read our tips for parting your hair to suit the shape of your face in this interactive slideshow.
Round Face
If you have a round face like Kirsten Dunst, a deep side part will both slim down your jawline as well as show off your “good side!” I have a particularly round face, so before I cut my bangs I always parted my hair to the right. In the middle of the day I would flip my hair to the left, so that I’d have a little extra volume. Try it!
Square Face
If you have a square face like Olivia Wilde, you also may want to try parting your hair to the side – it will soften up the sharp angles of your face and jawline! If you have medium to long layers, that should also make your face seem more oval.
Heart-Shaped Face
Heart-shaped faces, like Drew Barrymore’s or Reese Witherspoon’s, are wider up top, so parting your hair in the middle can really play up your cheekbones if you have longer hair. For short hairstyles, try a side-part to slim down your face.
Oval Face
Ladies like Rihanna, who have oval-shaped faces, have it easiest of all – you can part your hair pretty much however you want! This gives you plenty of room to experiment, so try different parts once in a while!

I agree. I have a more square face, so that's why I've always parted my hair to the side since, well.. forever!
