My theme for “Just Desserts” is “Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice.” When Chrissy told me about this contest, I immediately thought of creating a bold lip. Even though presentation is important with desserts, it’s all about tasting and eating!
It’s time to go food shopping so sadly I don’t have any sweets to use as props in my house. I had to rely on just my makeup to create this look. I did attempt to make a sugary looking lip but it photographed terribly! All is not lost from my attempt, however. My lips are nicely exfoliated after using sugar and sea salt trying to create a statement lip.
To create the whole look, I decided on a warm toned theme to compliment my cinnamon lip. I began by priming with Makeup Forever HD primer in Green, since I was a little red today and wanted to cancel that out. I also primed my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion. I work this in with a brush to give myself an even playing field to work with.
I kept with Urban Decay and decided to work out of the Naked 1 Palette. I swept a layer of Virgin from lash to brow. I then added a layer of Ben Nye Crème Color in Sandy Rose. If you aren’t familiar with these, they are a great and affordable alternative to the Makeup Forever Flash Colors. There’s a ton of colors available and they wear well for a long time. I chose the Sandy rose to get a more coral tone to my lid. Over that, I went back to UD Naked and swept a liberal amount of Half Baked over my lid and used Smog in the crease, blended well. I lined with Stila Stay All Day liner in Carbon Black and used Lancome Hypnose Mascara on my lashes. For the bottom lid, I lined my waterline with Paula Dorf Baby Eyes and used MAC Powersurge along my lash line.
For my foundation, I used MAC Select Liquid in NW20. I concealed with Stila Brighten and Correct in Light and swept it up towards my temple. For my blush, I again used Ben Nye Crème Color in Sandy Rose to create a subtle monochromatic look. I complimented that with Makeup Forever Uplight #12 and finished with MAC Mineralize Powder in Medium.
I began my lip with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Tiramisu. I then layered with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Grandma. I had never been a fan of using these on other people, but I loved it on myself! On top of that, to create the cinnamon look, I used Westmore copper loose pigment with just a hint of white in the center. I used Stila Brighten and Correct and a little more lip liner to clean up my lip line, and I was ready to show off my dessert inspired makeup!
