I received the Savane Skincare collection to test a few months ago, and this review has been a long time coming. I know, I know – I have been seriously lagging in my blogging responsibilities, but at least now I’ve really had enough time to see the long term effects of these products. I have been using Savane pretty consistently since I received them in the mail, and I really love these products. If you have sensitive and acne-prone skin like I do, you’ll know that it’s extremely hard to find the right skincare regime that wont leave your skin irritated or broken out. These days, my acne has become a lot more manageable and I’m betting I have Savane to thank for that.
I don’t use the entire line of products, so for the purposes of this post, I’ll only go over what I do use regularly.
Savane Soothing Cleanser
This cleanser is extremely gentle, which is perfect for my sensitive skin. It comes out as brown gel and mildly foams as you lather. I use this in the morning and at night with my Clarisonic Mia, and it leaves me feeling very clean. It doesn’t dry me out, which also means my skin doesn’t get too oily in the aftermath. I find with a lot of cleansers that are designed for people with acne, my skin feels extremely dry after I use it, and then it overcompensates for that by producing too much oil during the day. Since using Savane Soothing Cleanser, my skin has felt great all day, which leads to less frequent break-outs (I still get them around that time of the month) and makeup-meltdowns. I have been using this consistently since July and I am just now starting to run out.
Savane Soothing Cleanser
“For a pure complexion and radiant looking skin. Savane Soothing Cleanser gently removes environmental grime and make-up and purifies the skin without drying. Powerful antioxidants from Rooibos reduce damage caused by free radicals, while complex polysaccharides from Aloe ferox soothe your skin. This unique formulation helps maintain a healthy moisture balance for soft, healthy skin.”
Savane Gentle Exfoliant
This is my favorite product out of this line. I use it two to three times a week after cleansing, and it’s very gentle and easy to wash off. It doesn’t leave stuff in my hair, and doesn’t feel too rough against my skin. It also has a very pleasant citrus/orange scent that I enjoy very much. It leaves my face feeling baby-smooth.
Savane Certified Organic Gentle Exfoliant
“Featured on Style.com’s Summer 2011 Beauty Guide! For a luxurious soft finish. Savane Gentle Exfoliant includes Rooibos flakes and sugar to gently polish your skin and stimulate cell rejuvenation, while Marula and Jojoba oils revitalize and soften the skin. Frankincense essential oil contributes to the luxurious experience. We recommend using the Savane oil-based exfoliant twice weekly.”
Savane Purifying Toner
I use this before moisturizing in the morning and evening, and I can see that it’s really helped even out my skin tone. I have redness in some areas where I’m prone to break out, and I have noticed it gradually fading away. The directions say to spray it directly onto cleansed skin, but I’m always afraid it will get into my eyes, so I spray two pumps into a cotton square and gently rub it into my skin.
Savane Certified Organic Purifying Toner
“A top 10 Natural Beauty Pick from The Zoe Report in January 2012! To refresh and revitalise your complexion. Savane Purifying Toner evens skin tone and protects against premature aging. Powerful antioxidants aspalathin and super-oxide dismutase found in Rooibos protect your skin against free radical damage caused by pollution, smoke, sun exposure and stress.”
The products in the Savane Skincare line, which can be found on zaega.com, range between $40-$100, which some people may find to be a bit pricey. However, because I do have sensitive skin, it takes a lot for me to want to change up my skincare regimen very often. So I do not mind spending a little extra money on something that I know works for me, if I know those are the only products I’ll be using (as opposed to some women who alternate products throughout the week). But for those of you who are curious about this brand, you may be pleased to know that we will be giving away a Savane Skincare Trial Kit this month, which includes samples of the entire collection.
